Sponsoring Visiting Scholars

The J Exchange Visitor Program was developed to implement the Mutual Educational and Cultural Exchange Act (Fulbright-Hayes Act) of 1961. The overall purpose is to increase the mutual understanding between countries though educational and cultural exchanges.

The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater is currently authorized to host J Exchange Visitors in the following categories:

  • Student Non-Degree
  • Research Scholar
  • Short Term Scholar
  • Visiting Professor

Workshops for Departments

The CGE hosts a varity of immigration workshops for UW-Whitewater departments. Workshops for inviting visiting scholars can be scheduled by emailing Erika Cuevas at In your email please indicate that you would like to have an Visiting Scholar Workshop along with possible dates and the number of expected attendees.

Visiting Scholar Orientation

Orientations for J Exchange Visitors are held the first and third Friday of every month from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Please bring the following documents to orientation:

  • DS-2019
  • Passport
  • I-94 Card
